Apple has announced plans to become the exclusive US home for live Formula 1 racing beginning in 2026, delivering an immersive viewing experience through the Apple TV app. Alongside live race broadcasts, Apple will offer numerous interactive features designed to enhance fan engagement throughout each grand prix weekend.

Comprehensive Coverage Across the Grand Prix Weekend

The Apple TV app will provide full live coverage of all Formula 1 practice sessions, sprint races, qualifying rounds, and main events starting in 2026. A dedicated F1 channel already exists within the app, where fans can access race day broadcasts as well as pre- and post-race analysis.

In addition to live events, the platform will offer on-demand content including F1 documentaries like the popular “Drive To Survive” series, season previews, and videos explaining new regulations. Fans in the US will be able to watch every grand prix live with a choice between the F1 TV feed or the Sky Sports broadcast, both available in 4K HDR with Dolby Vision and 5.1 surround sound.

F1 TV Premium Included with Apple TV Subscription

Subscribers to Apple TV will gain access to F1 TV Premium for the 2026 season at no extra cost. This enhanced package provides live onboard cameras for each car, team radio transmissions, and real-time telemetry data. This allows fans to build custom multi-screen viewing setups combining the main race feed with exclusive camera angles and live metrics.

The integration makes it possible to watch races either directly through Apple TV or by using the F1 TV app as a complementary second screen, enabling a richer and more customizable race day experience for enthusiasts.

Innovative Viewing Tools and Multiview Options

Apple is introducing several new viewing features tailored specifically for Formula 1 fans. The “Multiview” option lets viewers watch up to five feeds simultaneously, placing the main broadcast at the center with multiple driver camera views on the sides. Preset configurations are available, but users can also customize their own layouts to follow favorite drivers or teams.

The app includes additional features such as a live Driver Tracker, detailed Driver Data, and dedicated feeds for each practice session (P1, P2, P3), enhancing raceday engagement and allowing fans to dive deeper into the sport’s technical aspects.

Supporting Content and Services Beyond Streaming

For those who prefer audio commentary, Apple Music will offer a dedicated live radio streaming channel covering the races with expert analysis. Furthermore, Apple News and Apple Sports will provide updated Formula 1 news and insights.

Apple Maps integration will assist attendees of in-person events by providing crucial information on road closures and travel conditions, improving the live event experience for fans at race venues.

Upcoming Race and Launch Details

The first Formula 1 race streamed via Apple TV will be the Australian Grand Prix, scheduled from March 6 to March 8, 2026. Practice sessions will begin on Friday, qualifying on Saturday, and the race will take place on Sunday. For viewers in the US, the live events will start on Thursday night and continue through Saturday night, with the race beginning at 11 PM ET.

This new partnership marks a significant shift in Formula 1 broadcasting in the United States, highlighting Apple’s commitment to delivering high-quality sports content with innovative viewer experiences.
